Christmas Time
Okay, so I’m a big fan of Christmas “stuff.” I love the music (I’ve been playing Christmas music on Pandora since before Thanksgiving) and the movies! We have brought out the Christmas movies at our house and have been watching them pretty regularly there. I think we’ve watched Home Alone 4-5 times already. Two weeks ago, I added a good classic to the collection: Christmas Vacation. Sarah had never seen it so I figured that was a good reason to pick it up.
My all time favorite Christmas movie has to be “Scrooged” though; Bill Murray and Christmas together?! How much better can you get?!
Earlier this week, I was reading The Resurgence blog and one of the things on there was Daddy Tips for Christmas Time. I tweeted it a couple of days ago because I thought there were some great ideas. One of those was making memories during this time for my children and family. I am trying intentionally to make this a special time for Hayden to remember. Another couple of ideas were taking time to sing Christmas songs, watch holiday movies, and help decorate kids’ rooms.
So I’m wondering…what are some of your favorite Christmas movies and/or traditions that get you into the spirit? What are some things that you and your family have done for years? Or maybe its a new tradition? I’d love to hear some thoughts…after I hear some of yours, I’ll share some of what I have done/am planning to do.

My favorite Christmas movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life”
Then “White Christmas” and I love all the old classic Christmas cartoon movies. You know that you can even buy them in a set? So if we miss it on TV we can just pull them out. I LOVE christmas. I go around singing Christmas songs all the time beginning with the day after Thanksgiving. We always tried to put up our tree the day after Thanksgiving, part of our tradition as the kids were growing up. Of course the Christmas music would play loudly as we decorate it. One of the kids favorite tradition was going to Christmas Eve service, then driving around the look at lights after we eat dinner, and going home and opening ONE gift on Christmas eve. I really miss that. And of course waking up early to the kids giggling over dumping out their stockings and ooohhhhing and aahhhing over their santa gifts.
WE also used to get one family gift every year, like a game, or basketball goal, or something that we could all do together throughout the year. We had a game night when the kids were young, so we loved getting new games to play.
when the kids were little we would sing happy birthday to baby Jesus on christmas. Making christmas cookies, and home made gifts were other favorites.
oh, the memories! enjoy it and commemorate it while Hayden is young, and as your family grows. Before you know it your kids are adults and you are on your own for Christmas.
Merry CHRISTmas!

I like the norml Xmas movies but have added Serendipity to the list, have also added dean martins version of Baby it’s cold outside” to my top fifty songs of all time. Love to see and talk to soldiers at Xmas time, mandatory mall nite is still a factor. Keep taking lots of pics.
I love hearing all the Christmas music, watching my kids in their school choirs and even standing in the cold. Mostly I love celebrating Jesus birth with the family. It reminds us each year to love him and give like he would and did.
